Hydrogen Energy Framework Specialist
Executive Network Group are recruiting for a Hydrogen Energy Framework Specialist. This role will suit an individual with a passion for creative thinking, to lead a team to ensure that our client is playing a leading role is successfully influencing and developing the commercial market and regulatory framework. This will enable an effective and efficient transition of the energy system to deliver the UK’s net Zero ambition.
With a clear roadmap you will help drive their performance to the forefront by interfacing with specific key industry stakeholders and influencers alongside national and regional government bodies.
Through innovation, design and influencing the regulatory commercial and market framework you will enable the transitions of the gas network to net zero. You will lead the way in an exciting time of repurposing the network to 100% hydrogen, independent hydrogen clusters, hydrogen blends and other net zero outcomes.

Day to Day:

  • Improving the businesses’ influential role in reactive and proactive industry and Government consultations on policy, code, methodology, licence, industry structure and governance, and other legislative changes
  • Developing scenarios that can be used to design the future of gas network and operating regime, in cooperation with the other energy networks
  • Developing and assessing transitional arrangements and support mechanisms
  • Informing business strategy and business case development
  • Tracking and communicating relevant wider European/Global energy transition progress
  • Maintaining a hydrogen fact base and developing ‘thought leadership’ material
  • Develop and maintain new financial /economic/commercial models to test impact of policy options and choices (for the business and consumers) including incentives
  • Write high quality and influential responses to Government consultations about specific policy items of interest, working with the Regulations function
  • Maintain the summary of all policy needs/requests in relation to Net Zero and hydrogen transition
  • Provide consultancy support to regional teams and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain a knowledge source to support policy and framework development, strategy, business cases, presentations and other thought leadership initiatives and material
  • Support the development of whole system planning framework across gas and electricity networks, including whole system initiatives and incentives.
What You’ll Bring:
The ideal candidate will have self-belief, can consistently delivers great performance and influences strategy, and hold the ability to develop themselves and others alongside the following skills:
  • Degree level or experienced equivalent (Essential at appointment)
  • Excellent understanding of UK energy markets and regulated networks
  • Good analytical skills and experience in their use to influence others building, populating and utilising robust and complex economic models
  • A Strong track record of effective presentation of complex analysis and issues
  • Technical and specialist experience in the energy regulatory framework and market arrangements
  • Experience in engaging with and influencing Government policy development and industry consultations
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Creative thinking to drive innovative solutions and scenarios and influential thought leadership
  • Commercial Awareness (Business Acumen) and Regulatory Understanding
