Due to the varied and every changing nature of the business the Head of Health and Safety needs to be creative and open, this is very much an environment where you don’t automatically say no – but instead find ways around and through the problems to manage risk.
As a Head of Health and Safety you will take the leading role in the development and implementation of the health, safety and fire risk management, strategies, polices and associated systems. You will create a strategic, proactive, and comprehensive approach to the management of risk and compliance in terms of the legislature framework and best practice and promote and embed an effective and positive health and safety culture. The role has several reports, so management and development of staff is key, so we are looking for someone with the ability to mentor, support and develop.
The risks on site are varied, from public safety, to construction, fire to machinery, so we are looking for someone from a varied background such as events, public sector, universities or similar. You will be able to work strategically with board members but will also be equally happy rolling your sleeves up and leading from the front, as there is still a lot of operational support needed throughout the business. You will also be comfortable in customer facing roles and will understand commerciality and the need to work with people and find solutions not problems. You will need to be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and ideally will also be CMIOSH, or Grad IOSH working towards.
