Part of a major international group, this organisation has a modern manufacturing facility producing high value products.
The plant is currently undergoing a period of transformation and capital investment to ensure the business remains competitive in an ever changing environment.
As a result a number of experienced Production Shift Supervisor are needed to oversee the 2-10 shift on a permanent basis.
Role: Production Shift Supervisor
Shift: Permanent 2-10 shift
Salary: up to £40,000 (depending on experience) + pension + benefits
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich, Dudley areas)
Job Purpose for the Production Shift Supervisor
o Lead and supervise a team managing resources and processes in a manufacturing facility.
o Responsibility for all aspects of departmental health, safety, environment and waste streams
o Manage, lead, develop, coach and engage a team of employees by deploying strong leadership qualities.
o Set clear expectations of the team, build an understanding of the plant & processes and identify bottlenecks & opportunities.
o Optimise plant uptime by scheduling in maintenance requirements that fit best to avoid production downtime.
o Ensure shift handovers take place at the workstation to ensure production continuity.
o Drive the team to deliver targets on time to assist meeting the business plan
Experience required for the Production Shift Supervisor
You will already be an experienced Shift Manager, Shift Supervisor or Production Supervisor working within fast paced volume manufacturing environment and seeking your next career step with an expanding and successful organisation.
o Experience of leading teams in a high volume, pressurised manufacturing environment
o Experience of coaching and mentoring a team.
o Experience of optimising production facilities and delivery of continuous improvement/ lean manufacturing objectives
o Able to plan and organise manning, materials and production in a busy environment along with excellent management, prioritisation and organisational skills
o Assertive, independent and self sufficient with the ability to cope effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
o Ability to drive performance against KPI's
o Good oral & written communication skills
o Management or supervisory qualifications ; ILM, NVQ4, HNC, Degree
o Time served / BTEC Mechanical Engineering and lean/ sigma training highly desirable
