Established almost 10 years ago, my client has established themselves as a leading Contractor in the field of Construction and Civils. With almost 140 employees, and a turnover of £20m, they are entering an exciting growth period, and require an experienced HSE Manager to join the team.
Reporting directly into the Board, the HSE Manager will take overall responsibility for the company’s Health & Safety strategy, as well as ensuring compliance and engagement across their 2 offices (Northamptonshire and Teeside) and sites nationwide. You will work closely with all managers across the business, identifying individual and team training needs, as well as reviewing existing policies, and making recommendations for changes as required. The company are looking to move from being a Tier 2 to Tier 1 contractor, and a strong HSE Manager is seen as essential in this aim. You will be commutable to the office on the Northants / Bedfordshire border, with travel to the other office and regular site visits as required.
To be considered for the role of HSE Manager, you will need to have the following skills and experience:
• Experienced HSE Manager with a strong Construction background
• Extensive site-based experience essential, with any experience in Highways / Civils an advantage
• Strong but personable approach, with a professional and hard working nature
• Qualified to Diploma level in Health & Safety, alongside vocational certificates (NEBOSH etc)
• Membership of IOSH
• Full UK driving license
A basic salary of between £50-60k is on offer for the HSE Manager role, alongside a company car or car allowance. The company are currently working on a benefits package enhancement to be rolled out in the New Year. You will initially be supported by a junior member of staff who is undertaking a H&S apprenticeship, but the scope to grow the role and build a team is there.
